Doron Perkins - Maccabi (Photo: MaccabiFans.co.il)Israeli basketball's titans will clash for the first title of the season after Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and Hapoel Jerusalem won their respective semifinals in the Winner Cup on Wednesday in the Israeli capital. Maccabi trounced Gilboa Galil 87-65 behind 15 points from Alan Anderson, while Hapoel bested Haifa 77-75 as Kevin Pinkney shined with 27 points. Doron Perkins scored 7 points during a 16-0 Maccabi run that bridged the first and second quarter as head coach Pini Gershon's squad took control for good. The lead reached 42-20 and Galil never mounted a serious charge in the second half. Stephane Lasme added 12 and Perkins had 11 for Maccabi. Dion Dowell and Dagan Yavzuri led Galil with 12 points apiece. Jerusalem trailed by 7 heading into the fourth quarter, but a brilliant Pinkney brought the hosts back and Dijon Thompson sealed the win with a pair of free throws with 5.1 seconds left. Tre Simmons added 15 and Thompson 11 for the winners. Davon Jefferson paced Haifa with 16.
