Montepaschi Siena bounced back from its first Italian League loss of the season by downing Air Avellino 91-74 on Saturday night to bring its record to 22-1. David Hawkins scored 22 and Nikos Zisis added 17 with 7 rebounds and 4 assists to pace the winners, who need just two more wins to clinch first place for the regular season and the homecourt advantage throughout the Italian League playoffs. Second placed Sigma Coatings Montegranaro remained hot by crushing Vanoli Cremona 91-72 to take control of second place. Anthony Maestranzi led the way for Montegranaro with 15 points. Meanwhile Pepsi Caserta lost 67-74 at home to Canadian Solar Bologna, putting the two clubs into a tie for third at 15-8. Petteri Koponen paced Bologna with 21 points. NGC Cantù recorded a 79-61 win over Lottomatica Roma thanks to Nicola Mazzarino, who was perfect from beyond the arc en route to 18 points. Banca Tercas Teramo downed Angelico Biella 78-71 led by 20 points from Jesse Young. Sharrod Ford amassed a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead Carife Ferrara over Cimbero Varese 77-60, while Benetton beat Nuova Sebastiani 169-29 led by 32 points and 21 rebounds from Donatas Motiejunas.

DeMarcus Nelson scored 19 and Dee Brown 15 for the visitors. Marco Carraretto scored from the foul line to give a 20-18 margin to the hosts at the end of the first quarter, Hawkins capped an 11-0 run from downtown to make it 29-18. After leading 43-34 lead at halftime, Siena increased the cushion to 50-36 on a four-point-play of Hawkins and reached the biggest margin of the night, 80-62, at the midway point of the fourth quarter.

NGC Cantù recorded a 79-61 win over Lottomatica Roma thanks to Nicola Mazzarino, who was perfect from beyond the arc en route to 18 points, while Maarten Leunen and Tautvydas Lydeka posted double doubles. Kennedy Winston led Roma with 14 points. A 20-8 start for Cantù put Lottomatica in trouble. The visitors climbed to 20-13, but four consecutive three pointers nailed by four different players, Vladimir Micov, Mazzarino, Leunen and Michele Mian gave the hosts a 37-21 advantage late in the second quarter, which became 38-24 at halftime. In the second half, Lottomatica was never able to narrow the gap below double digits as the hosts secured the triumph.

Banca Tercas Teramo downed Angelico Biella 78-71 led by 20 points from Jesse Young. Valerio Amoroso and Drake Diener added 14 apiece, Ryan Hoover scored 13 and Giuseppe Poeta 11. Pietro Aradori led Biella with 17. The hosts led 37-33 at halftime and then raised the difference to 54-40 late in the third quarter. Only in the last minutes did the guests get any closer. And Benetton beat Nuova Sebastiani 169-29 led by 32 points and 21 rebounds from Donatas Motiejunas.
