Serbian League, Season 2009-10
With a grand total of 19 teams in the competition, the Serbian League is one of the largest in Europe, though the unique format means that they won’t all face each other. The five Serbian Adriatic League sides, defending champion Partizan, Crvena Zvezda, FMP, KK Radnicki and Hemofarm Stada only join the domestic league in March after the Adriatic League comes to an end. The Serbian League starts off with 14 teams playing a 26-round season after which the top three teams advance to the second stage with the Adriatic League squads. From there the best four advance to semifinal and later final series. Partizan is the historical favorite boasting a squad with Jan Vesely, Aleksandar Rasic, Dusan Kecman and Slavko Vranes plus a host of young talents. Crvena Zvezda will contend with Tadija Dragicevic, Elmedin Kikanovic, Vladimir Stimac and Vuk Radivojevic. FMP keeps most of last season’s team, led by the young core of Dragan Labovic, Mladen Jeremic, Nemanja Protic and Miroslav Raduljica, making it even more dangerous for this season. Hemofarm promises to compete after adding Jarod Stevenson and Marko Sutalo to Milan Macvan and Stefan Markovic. Radnicki has a new look roster after bringing in Artur Urazmanov, Aleksey Kotishevskiy, Nenad Misanovic, Marko Brkic and Bojan Setencic. Among the teams favored to advance from the first part of the regular season to the second are Sloga, Metalac and Mega HL.
