Aleks Maric - PartizanPartizan Belgrade has a leg up in the Serbian League finals after beating Hemofarm Stada 67-60 in the opening game of the best-of-five series. Hemofram hosts Game 2 on Wednesday. Aleks Maric scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Jan Vesely and Bo McCalebb added 10 points each for the defending champs. Despite a strong start for Hemofarm, the hosts found their footing to lead 17-14 after 10 minutes. The game had an ugly moment in the second quarter when Goran Jagodnik committed an unsportsmanlike foul on Maric, however the tension did not escalate and Partizan took a 30-23 lead into halftime. The visitors started the second half with confidence and led by Bojan Krstovic, closed the gap to 34-32, but a barrage of three-pointers from Bransilav Djekic helped Partizan remain ahead. Boban Marjanovic shined in the fourth as Hemofarm continued to challenge. Aleksandar Rasic pushed the Partizan lead up to 57-48 before Stefan Markovic narrowed it back to 5. McCalebb finally slammed the door on Hemofarm’s upset hopes with a steal and dish to Lawrence Roberts in the final minute that allowed the home team to smile. Marjanovic and Markovic finished with 12 points apiece for Hemofarm.
