Swiss League finals, Game 1: May 16, 2010
The Lugano Tigers started the best-of-five Swiss League finals in style by edging Olympic Fribourg 84-82 on Sunday at Istituto Elvetico of Lugano. Michael Efevberha led the way with 19 points, Brian Brown added 16, Derek Stockalper had 13 and Mohammed Abukar 12 for the winners. Edwin Draughan was the main weapon for Fribourg with 35 points, while Oliver Vogt posted 20 for the guests. The first half was very balanced with Lugano leading 42-39 at halftime. The hosts came back from the lockers for the third quarter and went on a 16-3 charge to take control of the game. In the fourth quarter, Draughan pushed Olympic back to set up a close finish, but the Tigers resisted till the final buzzer to win the game and start the series 1-0.
