Brian Greene - Spirou CharleroiSpirou Basket Charleroi moved within one game of its fourth consecutive Belgian League crown after routing Generali Okapi Aalstar 68-94 Thursday to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five finals series. Demond Mallet scored 21 points and Brian Greene collected 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the winners. Charleroi did its damage in the middle two quarter, outscoring Aalstar 27-16 in the second quarter to take a 13-point lead and then going up by 22 at the end of the third quarter to practically seal the outcome. Spirou outscored the home team in each quarter, which was made possible by excellent three-point shooting – 13 for 21 (61.9%) – and a 27-37 rebounding advantage. Dwayne Broyles added 14 points, Sacha Massot 11 and Joseph Gomis 10 for Charleroi. Tyren Johnson paced the hosts with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Alex Ruoff netted 13. Spirou will try to wrap up the series at home in Game 3 on Saturday.
