Panathinaikos champ Heba 2010-11 (photo esake.gr)Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion Panathinaikos Athens capped off a stellar season by winning its ninth straight Greek League title with a thrilling 101-94 overtime home win against archrival Olympiacos on Sunday. The Greens took the best-of-five series 3-1.The clinching victory came despite the fact that continental MVP Dimitris Diamantidis was hurt 1 minute into game and didn't return. The lead went back and forth for 40 minutes until a free throw by Loukas Mavrokefalidis of Olympiacos forced overtime at 83-83. In the last 2 minutes of overtime, the Greens broke an 88-88 tie by exploding for 9 answered points as their fans at OAKA celebrated yet another trophy. Mike Batiste and Antonis Fotsis, who hit 6 of 6 three-pointers, led Panathinaikos with 22 points, while Nick Calathes had 16. Batiste added 11 rebounds as the Greens outrebounded Olympiacos 42 to 25, while Calathes dished 11 assists. The Reds got 18 points from Vassilis Spanoulis, 16 from Ioannis Bouroussis and 12 from Loukas Mavrokefalidis, but suffered from some missed free throws at key moments of the fourth quarter. MORE
