The Greek League regular season started this weekend after a week's delay and amid much controversy due to a strike proclaimed by the Greek Players Association for labor reasons. Despite its decision, the scheduled games took place as the teams used foreign players and juniors, while the Greek players from Panathinaikos and Olympiacos chose to play. The Greens overwhelmed PAOK at home 108-61 behind 16 points from Drew Nicholas and 14 each from Milenko Tepic and Antonis Fotsis. DeShawn Sims and Justin Gray had 20 points apiece for the visitors. The Reds beat Aris BSA 2003 on the road 65-78 as Vassilis Spanoulis netted 20 points and dished 6 assists and Ioannis Bourousis tallied 12 points and 7 rebounds. PJ Tucker scored 23 for the hosts. Panellinios lost on the road to Iraklis, 82-81, after overtime, as Andre Brown scored 23. In other games Periklis Dorkofikis score a career high 35 points to lead AEK over newcomer Ikaros Kallitheas 81-72, Kavala crushed Ilissiakos 99-71 behind 20 points and 13 boards from Cedric Simmons, Kolossos Rhodes downed Peristeri 67-57 thanks to Angelos Tsamis’s 14 points and Maroussi BC edged Panionios on the road, 63-72 as David Huertas recorded 15 points and 9 boards.
