Greek League, Regular Season, Game 20: March 9, 2011
Olympiacos and Panathinaikos racked up blowout wins to stay in control atop the Greek League standings. The Reds remained undefeated and picked up their 20th win of the season by routing PAOK Thessaloniki on the road 49-77. A 2-12 start to the second quarter made it 16-30 and Olympiacos continued to pile on the point after that en route to victory. Zoran Erceg led the winners with 15 points, Matt Nielsen added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Vassilis Spanoulis also scored 12. Rawle Marshall paced PAOK with 14 points. Panathinaikos scored the game’s first 9 points and never looked back for a 101-68 win over Iraklis to improve to 19-1. Milenko Tepic shined with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the Greens, Stratos Perperoglou netted 14, Antonis Fotsis 13 and Ian Vougioukas and Dimitris Diamantidis scored 11 each. Smush Parker paced Iraklis with 17 points and 9 assists. Panellinios topped Maroussi 85-73 as Steven Smith and Torrin Francis combined for 38 points. Despite the loss, Maroussi remained alone in third place as the three teams behind it –Panionios, PAOK and Aris - all lost. Peristeri beat Panionios 67-59 and Kavala topped Aris 90-85. In other games, Ilissiakos beat Ikaros 74-67 and Kolossos VAP was a 64-57 winner over AEK.
