Armani Jeans Milano is sitting pretty as the only undefeated team in the Italian League after three games. Defending champion Montepaschi Siena suffered its first loss on Saturday 87-86 at Cimberio Varese on a Ronald Slay free throw in the last second. Jobey Thomas led Varese with 21 points and Slay added 16. Rimantas Kaukenas scored 20 for Montepaschi and Milovan Rakovic scored 15. That set the stage for a showdown between Milano and Angelico Biella, who started the weekend at 2-0. Jonas Maciulis shined with 17 points and 10 rebounds and David Hawkins added 13 as Armani Jeans recorded a 72-81 victory. Edgar Sosa led Biella with 22 points and Goran Suton added 15 points and 12 rebounds. In a showdown between Euroleague and Eurocup teams. Bennet Cantu upset Virtus Roma 66-78 thanks to 19 points from Vladimir Micov. Cantu used an 8-19 first quarter to make the difference. Ali Traore led Roma with 16 points and Darius Washington and Vladimir Dasic had 13 each. Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro needed overtime to edge Pepsi Caserta 89-91 thanks to Marco Cusin’s 19 points and 10 rebounds. Fabi Shoes Montegranarobested Benetton Treviso 79-72 as Bobby Jones scored 14 and Sharod Ford added a double-double. Devin Smith led Benetotn with 16 points. Other Week 3 winners include Dinamo Sassari, Canadian Solar Bologna and Vanoli-Braga Cremona.
