Montepaschi Siena downed Canadian Solar Bologna 92-80 to remain atop the Italian League with an 11-1 record. Bennet Cantù sits in a tie for second place following a 67-59 success over Armani Jeans Milano, with both teams sporting 9-3 records. Seven teams are locked in fourth place with 6-6 marks. Montepaschi bested Bologna 92-80 thanks to Ksistof Lavrinovic, who came off the bench for 17 points. Rimas Kaukenas netted 15, Malik Hairston 13 and Milovan Rakovic 10. Kennedy Winston scored 26 for Bologna in defeat. Cantu got 19 points from Nicolas Mazzarino as it beat Milano. The first half was dominated by defense with Cantu holding a 29-22 margin at halftime. A 12-0 third-quarter run pushed Cantu to a double-digit margin and Vladimir Micov and Mike Green helped wrap up the win from the line. Pepsi Caserta edged Lottomatica Roma 68-60 as Eric Williams massed a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds and Jumaine Jones netted 13. Nihad Dedovic led all scorers with 20 for Roma and Josh Heytvelt added 13. Vanoli Cremona thrashed Benetton Treviso 91-72 with an amazing third-quarter performance. Treviso led 13-28 after the first quarter, but Artur Drozdov carried Cremona back and a 33-12 third quarter put the hosts in control. Drozdov led the winners with 26 points and Marko Milic added 21, while Donatas Motiejunas with 18 was the scoring leader for Treviso. Enel Brindisi under new coach Luca Bechi got back on track by defeating Scavolini Pesaro 80-66 behind 24 points from Bobby Dixon. Edgar Sosa’s layup with seconds remaining gave a thrilling 73-75 away win to Angelico Biella over Cimberio Varese. Fabi Shoes Montegranaro edged Banca Tercas Teramo 83-80 led by 27 points and 10 boards from Dejan Ivanov. And Taquan Dean scored 10 of his 20 points in the last four minutes helping Air Avellino escape from Sassari with a 71-80 win.
