VEF sent a message that echoed all around the league by overwhelming Ventspils 93-65 in Riga on Thursday. Kristaps Janicenoks led the winners with 20 points. Trevon Hughes added 13 while Art Parakhouski had 12 for VEF, that led 59-30 at halftime and kept a safe margin from that moment. VEF had registered a 76-69 road loss against Barons on Tuesday. Derek Williams, who started the season with VEF, led Barons with 16 points. Kaspars Berzins led VEF with 21 points. Bojan Bakic added 12 while Hughes and Gatis Jahovics each had 10 for the guests, that trailed 66-46 after 30 minutes and never fully recovered. Ventspils thrashed LU 39-73 on Sunday with 14 points each from Lauris Blaus and Weyinmi Efeyuku. In other games, Barons downed BA Turiba 51-81 while Valmiera edged Lauvas 83-82.
