Zalgiris Kaunas won the Lithuanian League championship for the 24th time and the first in three years on Thursday by routing Lietuvos Rytas 95-69 to win the best-of-seven finals series 4-1. Tadas Klimavicius posted 18 points and 10 rebounds and Paulius Jankunas and DeJuan Collins added 12 points apiece to lead the new champs. Zalgiris grabbed a double-digit lead in the opening quarter, soared to 54-32 by halftime and cruised the rest of the way, enjoying the closing minutes to celebrate the title. Kenan Bajramovic scored 13, D.J. Strawberry 12 and Jonas Valanciunas posted 11 points and 10 rebounds in defeat. The win wraps up a brilliant campaign for Zalgiris in which the club went undefeated in the Lithuanian League regular season, lost only once in the playoffs and also won the Lithuanian Cup and the Baltic League crown.
