Juan Carlos scored 16 points and dished 4 assists to pace Barca, which relied on its defense to secure the victory in the end. Navarro was also named MVP of the finals series after averaging 15 points and 3.3 assists in the three games. After trailing throughout the third quarter, Marko Banic put Bilbao ahead 51-50 early in the fourth quarter. However Barcelona allowed just 8 points over the final 10 minutes and denied the home team on the most critical attacks. On a poor outside shooting night for both teams – 5 of 26 for Barcelona (19.2%) and 3 of 15 for Bilbao (20%) – the visitors’ 29-43 rebounding advantage played a big role. Alan Anderson added 10 points for the winners. Alex Mumbru paced Bilbao with 14 points. Bilbao finished the first quarter strong and took a 19-12 lead on a Josh Fisher triple, but Barcelona recovered quickly and evened the score by scoring the first 7 points of the second quarter. Janis Blums and Mumbru put Bilbao back ahead only to see Joe Ingles give the visitors a 29-30 advantage at the break. Navarro heated up in the third quarter with 8 points – including a pair of triples – as Barcelona went up by as many as 7 points and threatened to pull away. But Bilbao fed off the crowd’s energy and Fisher stripped Jaka Lakovic for a layup that made it 47-48 with 10 minutes to play. Banic put Bilbao ahead 51-50 early in the fourth quarter, setting up an exciting finish. A Navarro three-point play lifted the visitors on top and Ingles made it 51-55. Bilbao kept it close though and twice cut the gap to 2. However strong Barcelona defense denied the home team and Fran Vazquez essentially sealed the game and series with a pair of free throws that made it 55-62 with 45 seconds remaining.

Spanish League, 2010-11 season preview
The Spanish League remains as one of the most competitive around the continent, a league where any team can lose a game anywhere. Reigning champion Caja Laboral is ready to defend the title with Marcelo Huertas, Brad Oleson, Fernando San Emeterio or Mirza Teletovic back in the team. Marcus Haislip, Nemanja Bjelica and David Logan are its main additions this season. Euroleague champion Regal FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will do their best to dethrone Laboral. Barcelona is back with the same superstars that conquered the Euroleague title in Paris, such as Juan Carlos Navarro, Ricky Rubio, Pete Mickeal, Fran Vazquez or Terence Morris. Its only newcomer is center Kosta Perovic. Madrid landed Sergio Rodriguez, Carlos Suarez, Clay Tucker or D'or Fischer to play alongside Felipe Reyes, Ante Tomic, Novica Velickovic or Sergio Llull. Eurocup champ Power Electronics Valencia inked Dusko Savanovic, Robertas Javtokas, Jeremy Richardson or Omar Cook to complement players like Nando De Colo, Rafa Martinez, Victor Claver or Serhiy Lishchuk. Unicaja landed Terrell McIntyre and Uros Tripkovic, keeping a core of players that includes Carlos Jimenez, Berni Rodriguez, Robert Archibald or Joel Freeland. Several other teams will battle for a playoff spot. Cajasol kept Tariq Kirksay and Earl Calloway and landed scoring ace Louis Bullock. Asefa Estudiantes signed Jiri Welsch, Ty Ellis and Josh Asselin, DKV Joventut inked Jordi Trias, Will McDonald or Carl English. Bizkaia Bilbao Basket relies on Marko Banic, Alex Mumbru and Chris Warren to take the team back to the playoffs. Gran Canaria 2014 has a deep team with Taurean Green, CJ Wallace and Spencer Nelson as its main newcomers. Expect the Spanish League to provide six months of excitement in which anything can happen.
