Adriatic League, Regular Season, Game 23: March 6-7, 2012
Partizan mt:s denied Buducnost Voli the last remaining ticket to the Adriatic League Final Four – at least temporarily – with a 67-58 victory on Wednesday in the Serbian capital. However Partizan remained in third place with a 17-6 record after Cedevita downed Cibona in the Zagreb derby after two overtimes to remain one win ahead of the Serbian champs. Partizan pulled away in the second quarter to take a 42-29 halftime lead and added to that in the third quarter before Buducnost tried to rally in the fourth. Milan Macvan posted 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the winners, while Vladimir Lucic and Danilo Adjusic added 11 points apiece. Aleksa Popovic paced Buducnost with 12 points. The loss dropped fourth-placed Buducnost to 15-7. Cedevita rallied from a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit as Chris Warren ignited a 0-9 run and eventually it was Cibona that needed to force the extra time with a pair of late Tomislav Zubcic free throws that made it 84-84. Eleven points later, the teams headed into a second overtime session knotted at 95-95. With a minute to go, Warren broke the tie and then Marko Car sank 4 free throws down the stretch to preserve the lead as Cedevita secured its 18th win. Miro Bilan paced the victors with 27 points and 10 rebounds and Car and Warren added 24 apiece. Zubcic led seven Cibona scorers in double figures with 24 points and 13 rebounds and Antwain Barbour amassed 16 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals in defeat. In other games, Union Olimpija kept its slim final four hopes alive with a 64-71 road win at Siroki WWin behind Deon Thompson’s 19 points, Krka Novo Mesto routed Zagreb CO 84-65 led by Afik Nissim’s 16 points and Hemofarm Stada edged Zlatorog Lasko 58-54.
