Baltic League, Regular Season, Game 7-8: November 20-26, 2011
BC Rudupis got back-to-back wins in the Baltic League by edging University of Tartu 85-81 on Friday and downing Kalev/Cramo 72-64 on Saturday to take sole possession of first place with a 7-1 record. Kalev/Cramo fell to second place at 5-4. Rudupis fell behind University of Tartu in the first quarter 19-30, but the hosts upped their defensive intensity to go out front 61-56 after 30 minutes. Gediminas Orelik led the way with 21 points, Gintaras Kadziulis scored 16 and Dainius Salenga 12. A 19-8 fourth-quarter run gave Rudupis a 72-64 win over Kalev/Cramo as Simas Buterlevicius knocked down 15 points and Adas Juskevicius added 13. As a team, Rudupis shot 11 for 22 from downtown to help clinch the victory. Liepajas Lauvas outlasted Baltai KK 78-71 behind 22 points by Martins Kravcenko and 20 by Joshua Mayo. Pieno zvaigzdes downed University of Tartu 82-73 as Trevon Hughes tallied 22 points and Leroy Nobles 17, while Ventspils took third place in the standings with a 5-2 record by edging Baltai KK 82-77, led by Todd Abernethy’s 15 points and Jahmar Young’s 14.
