Baltic League, Regular Season, Game 20: March 9-10, 2012
Triumph Lyubertsy opened the Baltic League quarterfinals playoffs by downing Siaulia 84-76 on Saturday night. Sergey Karasev led the hosts with 22 points and Davon Jefferson added 21. Triumph led 48-37 at halftime behind Karasev’s 10-point second quarter. After Siauliai clawed back to 53-51 the Russian side reasserted itself and stayed in control for the duration. Ventpsils beat Kedainiai/Triobet 84-72 in its last regular season game to end in third place and will go against Lietuvos rytas in the playoffs. They opened with an 18-9 lead after 10 minutes and dominated throughout as Jahmar Young nailed 22 points and Mamadi Diane 21. Kalev/Cramo pounded Rudupis 88-55 to finish the regular season in fourth place with a 12-8 record and will face VEF Riga in the quarterfinals. Joosep Toome led the winners with 17 points. Rudupis ended its regular season in fifth place and will face Zalgiris Kaunas in the next round. In two other matches between teams already eliminated, Pieno zvaigzdes finished the season on high note, routing KK Baltai 73-51, while Kedainiai/triobet downed Liepajas Lauvas 77-92.
