Christopher Young - Okapi AalstarGenerali Okapi Aalstar moved within one win of first place after a 65-67 win at Optima Gent, while defending champ Belgacom Spirou had the weekend off. Aalstar improved to 10-5, while Spirou stays at 11-4. Aalstar held Gent to 6 second-quarter points, but only led 20-25 at halftime. Gent then pulled ahead in the third quarter and the game was close till the finish. Stefon Jackson put in Chris Copeland’s missed free throw to make it 61-64 with 18 seconds left. Michael Jenkins missed a triple to tie the score and Kevin Kruger iced the game from the line. Copeland and Chris Young led the winners with 15 points. Young also grabbed 12 rebounds. Jenkins scored 15 to lead Gent. Port of Antwerp Giants moved into a tie for third place with Telenet BC Oostende after winning the battle between them 68-49. Both teams have 9-6 records. Timothy Black tallied 23 points and 6 assists for the winners.
