Belgacom Spirou Basket routed Gent 68-50 to hold onto first place in the Belgian League with a 17-7 record. The hosts led 26-25 at halftime, then took off on a 27-11 run in the third quarter to ice the game. Spirou outrebounded Gent 35-22 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Andre Riddick paced the winners with 15 points and 7 rebounds, while three other players added 8 points apiece – Dwayne Broles, Caleb Green and Tornike Shengeila. Oostende used a 23-13 third quarter to secure an 82-72 success over Leuven as Kennedy Winston led the way with 14 points, while Antwerp handily beat Verviers-Pepinster 62-77, taking an early lead and adding to it along the way. Maxime De Zeeuw was the scoring leader for the winners with 19 points. Oostende and Antwerp raised their records to 16-6 and 16-7, respectively. Chris Young drained a game-leading 27 points to help Okapi Aalstar grab a thrilling 100-96 win over Mons-Hainaut. Earlier in the week, Aalstar won another nail-biter, downing Spirou 91-90 behind a stellar effort by Chris Copeland, who scored 45 points and added 6 rebounds. Aalstar boosted its record to 14-9.
