Kruger racked up 31 points as Aalstar bested Port of Antwerp Giants 96-89 in an overtime thriller. Kruger was named MVP after sinking 5 of 8 three-pointers and going 14 for 14 from the free throw line. Antwerp jumped out to an early lead behind strong play by center Salah Mejri, but Kruger’s shooting kept Aalstar within 35-39 at halftime. Antwerp climbed ahead 51-65 early in the fourth quarter, however Aalstar turned up the heat on defense, stalled the Antwerp attack and mounted a comeback. In the end Antwerp’s Michael Roll went to the line with 6 seconds left in regulation and his team down 1, split free throws and sent the game to an extra session tied 75-75. In overtime, players began falling with 5 fouls, but it was Antwerp that suffered more. Kruger capitalized with his flawless free-throw shooting to push Aalstar ahead and to victory. Chris Young added 17 points and 11 rebounds and Chris Copeland 16 and 8 for the winners. Tim Black led Antwerp with 19 points, Darnell Wilson had 18 and Mejri tallied 16 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks in defeat.
