Bulgarian League playoffs, Semifinals Game 3: May 14, 2012
Brandon Heath - Lukoil AcademicLukoil Academic Sofia reached the Bulgarian League finals with a 70-79 victory over Cherno More on Monday, sweeping the series 3-0. The defending champs will face the winner of the semifinals matchup between Levski and Tundja Yambol, now set at 2-1 after Tundja fended off elimination with a 96-85 triumph, also on Monday. Cherno More came out fired up, rolling over the guests 23-7 in the first 10 minutes, but Lukoil Academic won the remaining three quarters, including a 12-27 partial in the third, to retake control. Four players scored in double figures for the winners, led by Brandon Heath, who tallied 21 points with 7 rebounds. Tundja Yambol started strong, jumping out to a 34-17 lead in the opening quarter, then fended off Levski’s comeback attempt. The hosts dominated the inside game, outrebounding the opponent 46-27. Stanislav Govedarov starred for Tundja, scoring a game-high 25 points. Game 4 of the Tundja Yambol-Levksi series takes place on May 16.
