Croatian Kresimir Cosic Cup semifinals: February 15, 2012
Damir Mulaomerovic - KK Zagreb_35978KK Cedevita and KK Zagreb will square off for the first title of the Croatian season in the Kresimir Cosic Cup final on Thursday after respective wins in the semifinals. Zagreb outlasted rival Zadar 76-72 as big men Sean May and Mario Kasun combined for 36 points. Earlier Cedevita routed KK Split 102-74 as Miro Bilan netted 16. Zagreb and Zadar entered the fourth quarter with the score knotted at 58-58. After Damir Mulaomerovic shined with 6 quick points to put Zagreb up 69-64, the duo of Ive Ivanov and Ante Delas carried Zadar back on top 69-70 to set up an exciting finish. Mulaomerovic lifted Zagreb to 74-72 and after Delas missed, Damir Rancic iced the game from the line for Zagreb. May finished with 19 points and Kasun added 17 for the winners. Ivanov led Zadar with 23 points in defeat. Cedevita led 38-47 at halftime, but after Split cut the gap to 5 early in the third quarter, a 13-3 charge put Cedevita firmly in control. Bilan made it a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter and Cedevita coasted the rest of the way. Matjaz Smodis added 14 points, while Josip Sobin paced Split with 23 points.
