Croatian League semifinals, Game 2: May 18-19, 2012
Marin Rozic - CibonaCibona Zagreb became the first team to advance to the Croatian League finals, handily beating KK Zadar on the road 62-85 to win the series 2-0. KK Split edged Cedevita 82-79 to force their hard-fought series to a game 3 on May 23. Zadar came out competitively against Cibona, taking 14-9 lead after the first quarter, but the guests pulled out front at halftime 32-35, then hit the gas with an 11-28 run in the third to take an insurmountable 43-63 lead after 30 minutes. Damjan Rudez led the winners with 15 points, Marin Rozic and Zack Wright drained 14 apiece and Davor Kus added 12. Guard Ivan Mimica starred for KK Split, scoring 26 points to help the visitors even their series 1-1. The hosts seemed to have the game under control, leading 46-32 at the half, but Cedevita used an 11-22 third to pull to 57-54, then got as close as 78-77 after an 8-0 run in the final minutes. But with 18 seconds on the clock, Mimica and Srdan Subotic hit game-saving free throws to force a game 3. Sobin added 16 points and Nikola Vujcic 13 for the hosts, while Dontaye Draper netted 19, and Ivan Opacak and Marino Badzaric added 14 apiece for Cedevita.
