The loss gave Nancy a 6-1 record and dropped it into a tie for first place in the French League with BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque, which crushed Hyeres-Toulon 106-57. Cholet downed Le Havre 90-77 and Asvel Basket rolled over Chalon 86-63. Le Mans got the better of Nancy behind Marcellus Sommerville and JP Batista, who nailed 15 points apiece. Nancy’s Nicolas Batum tied the score at 78-78 with a minute left in the game, but Batista hit 2 free throws and then Alex Acker stole the last ball from the hands of John Linehan to seal the victory. Taylor Rochestie added 12 points and 10 assists for Le Mans, while Nicolas Batum had 24 points with 9 boards and Akin Akingabala added 16 points for Nancy. Gravelines-Dunkerque dominated Hyeres-Toulon 106-57 with six players scoring in double figures. Juby Johnson and Dounia Issa nailed 14 points apiece, Pape Sy, Rudy Jomby and Xavier Silas bagged 13 each, and JK Edwards had 10. The hosts led 52-29 at halftime, then piled on a 24-8 run in the third quarter to further widen the lead. Cholet Basket took a 90-77 win over Le Havre, thanks to a strong final quarter, to take a 4-3 record. Fabien Causeur led the way with 17 points, DeMarcus Nelson nailed 15, Demetris Nichols added 14 and Randal Falker chipped in 12, while Brian Boddicler had 30 for the losers. Asvel improved its record to 3-4 by downing Chalon 86-63 sparked by a 34-13 third quarter to ice the game. Tony Parker contributed 20 points and 8 assists, Ronny Turiaf added 15 points and 8 rebounds, Dijon Thompson drained 13 and Hilton Armstrong 10. Blake Schilb posted 24 for the losers. In other games, Eric Chatfield scored 33 points to help Paris-Levallois to edge out Orleans 79-76, while Choral Roanne rolled over Dijon 80-58 behind 20 points from Andre Barrett. Strasbourg eked out 78-79 victory on the road against Poitiers, led by Evan Fournier’s 23 points, and Pau-Orthez beat Nanterre 89-84.
