French League, Regular Season, Game 12: December 23, 2011
Chalon and BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque are joined together atop the French League table with 10-2 records after Friday night wins. SLUC Nancy did not play is third with a 9-2 mark. In a game where the defenses prevailed, Gravelines was able to get a win even though its three-point shooters struggled. Despite a poor 3 for 20 from beyond the arc, Gravelines maintained slim margin in the last quarter to get a 58-67 win behind 19 points from big man Ludovic Vaty, 11 from Andrew Albicy and 10 from Rudy Jomby. Chalon had an easy task to beat Pau Orthez 85-64 after leading 50-38 at halftime and never looking back. Nicolas Lang led the way with 16 points, Steed Tchicamboud had 15 with 5 assists, Malcom Delaney scored 12 and Alade Aminu tallied 11 points with 8 boards. Teddy Gipson posted 16 for Pau. Le Mans and Paris-Levallois are next in the standings with 9-3 records. Le Mans took a huge 73-89 road win over Strasbourg after a perfect first half to lead 23-46 at halftime. Taylor Rochestie showed again to be the leader of the team scoring 17 points, Charles Khaudi and Alex Acker had 16 each and Marcellus Sommerville 11. Paris-Levallois was led by 26 points from Eric Chatfield and 24 by Lamont Hamilton to beat Nanterre 86-79. Asvel Basket never looked back in beating Poitiers 82-67 after leading 26-12 at the end of the first quarter. Edwin Jackson had 18 points, Leo Westermann 15 with 6 assists and Dijon Thompson 11. Asvel has now a 6-6 record. Cholet Basket suffered a huge 71-88 home defeat to Dijon. Zach Moss had 24 points for the winners and David Melody added 14, while Eurocup Week-6 MVP Fabien Causeur posted 20 for the home team. And Orleans trashed Hyeres-Toulon 95-73 as Amara Sy bagged 24 and Brian Greene 14, while Rick Hughes led the visitors with 23 points.
