Taylor Rochestie - Le Mans (photo msb.fr)Chalon-sur-Saone stopped Orleans’ six-game winning streak in convincing fashion, winning 94-62 to take a 15-3 record and regain a tie for first place atop the French League table with Gravelines, which lost 85-83 to Le Mans in an overtime thriller. Chalon-sur-Saone grabbed a 29-16 margin against Orleans at the end of the first quarter and never looked back, as Blake Schilb paced the winners with 26 points and 8 assists and Alade Aminu added 16 points. Cedrick Banks led the losers with 16 points. Le Mans rallied to overcome a 64-53 deficit early in the last quarter against BCM Gravelines, tying the game on a layup by J.K. Edwards. In the extra session Taylor Rochestie excelled for Le Mans and finished the game with a team-leading 19 points, along with 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Alex Acker added 16 points and Marcellus Sommerville 16 with 9 boards for the winners. Yannick Bokolo led Gravelines with 20 points. In another top-of-the-table matchup, Paris Levallois edged SLUC Nancy 99-93 in overtime to take sole possession of third place with a 13-5 record. The hosts led 81-66 margin in the last quarter, but a 21-2 run by Nancy, led by Adrien Moerman, nearly gave the visitors the victory. The hosts’ Eric Chatfield tied the game with seconds left, then Nancy’s Jamal Shuler missed a potential game-winner. Chatfield, the go-to-guy in the overtime, led the Parisians with 27 points, while Trenton Meacham added 21. Moerman had 32 points for Nancy, which lost its fourth in the last five games. Asvel Lyon Villeurbanne edged Strasbourg 88-86 behind Edwin Jackson’s 19 points from and Hilton Armstrong’s 14 with 8 rebounds. Pau-Lacq-Orthez slipped past Dijon 59-57, ending a four-game losing streak, behind Marko Maravic's 17 points. Chorale Roanne got its first road win of the season, beating Cholet Basket 61-73. John Holland had 15 points for the winners, while Fabien Causeur, named the league’s January MVP, led Cholet with 22 points. In other games, Nanterre rolled over Hyeres-Toulon 102-60, and Poitiers easily handled Le Havre 82-64.
