Chalon-sur-Saone and BCM Gravelines both won to remain tied atop the French League with 17-3 records, while closest rival Paris-Levallois also triumphed to reach 14-6 on the season. Chalon-sur-Saone took out Dijon in a closely fought contest 84-77 as Blake Schilb claimed scoring honors for the winners with 25 points, while Gravelines trailed in the first quarter against Hyeres-Toulon but then poured it on after that for a convincing 60-85 victory, led by 13 points from Yannick Bokolo and 12 apiece from Judy Johnson and J.R. Reynolds, who also added 6 assists. League-leading scorer Eric Chatfield netted 20 points and dished out 8 assists to help Paris-Levallois beat Le Mans 85-78 and stay in third place. Le Havre surprised fourth-ranked Sluc Nancy with a 91-61 pounding in a game that was lopsided in favor of the hosts from start to finish. Karim Souchu led Le Havre with 19 points and Nicholas Pope added 16. John Cox tallied 11 assists for the winners. Adrien Moerman paced the losers with 14 points, the only player to reach double figures, while Akin Akingbala had 9 with 7 rebounds. Pau-Lacq-Orthez eked out an 83-78 win against fifth-ranked Orleans as Allan Ray paced the winners with 23 points, connecting on 5 of 8 from downtown. Cholet outfought Asvel Basket 67-71, as Fabien Causeur netted 17 points along with 6 assists and Patrick Christopher knocked down 12 to pace the winners. The visitors ended the third quarter up 52-53 and outscored Asvel 15-18 in the final 10 minutes to grab the narrow victory. Finally Poitiers upended Roanne 71-67 behind Antonio Grant’s 18 points.
