French League, Regular Season, Game 28: April 27-28, 2012
BCM Gravelines rolled over Poitiers 88-64 to maintain its lead atop the French League table with 25-3 record, while second-place Chalon did not play, as its game against Cholet was postponed to May 12. Third place remained in the hands of Orleans after it outplayed Nancy 73-83, raising its record to 19-9. Gravelines opened a narrow 21-18 first-quarter lead against Poitiers, then clamped down defensively in the second, outscoring the visitors 20-10 to take a 41-28 lead at halftime, which it maintained the rest of the way, taking an 88-64 win. Rudy Jomby led the way with 14 points, including 4 for 8 from downtown, while Pape Sy netted 12 and Ludovic Vaty and Dounia Issa added 10 each. Orleans used a 12-21 second quarter to grab a 73-83 victory over Nancy, led by Maleye Ndoye’s 21 points. Jamal Shuler paced the losers with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Dijon surprised fourth-place Le Mans 72-63, storming back from a 35-51 deficit at the end of the third quarter with a 37-12 run to earn the win, led by Bobby Dixon’s 19 points and 5 assists. The winners moved into playoffs contention with a 14-14 record, tied with Nanterre, which staged an upset of its own, downing Paris-Levallois 83-77. The guests led 32-33 at halftime, but Nanterre’s 28-23 fourth quarter made the difference. Le Havre crushed Roanne 96-62, while Asvel won only its second in 10 games by routing Pau-Lacq-Orthez 72-53, as Edwin Jackson tallied 19 and Leo Westermann tallied 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Finally, Strasbourg defeated bottom-ranked Hyeres-Toulon 69-88.
