French League, Regular Season, Game 29: May 4-5, 2012
There were no changes atop the French League with one round left to play in the regular season as BCM Gravelines outduelled Paris-Levallois 75-86 to win its 11th in a row and climb to 26-3. Closest rival Chalon dumped Asvel 76-61 to raise its record to 23-5, while Orleans held on to the third position by routing Strasbourg 71-88 for a 20-9 record. Gravelines got the upper hand against the Parisians with a 12-20 second quarter as four from the visiting squad scored in double figures, led by Andrew Albicy, who netted 19 points, and Juby Johnson, who added 15. Chalon handily beat Asvel, opening a 27-12 first quarter lead and coasting from there to a 76-61 victory. Alade Aminu paced the winners with 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Hilton Armstrong posted 20 points and 13 rebounds in a losing effort. Orleans dominated Strasbourg 71-88 as Amara Sy contributed 19 points, 9 boards and 4 assists for the winners. Le Mans downed Pau-Lacq-Orthez 89-77 behind a 19-point performance by Alex Acker. SLUC Nancy defeated Poitiers 60-68 as Jamal Shuler tallied 25 points along with 5 steals and Akin Akingabala added 15 points with 7 rebounds. Chorale Roanne earned a spot in the playoffs with a 16-13 record by taking out Nanterre 83-76, using a 20-13 third quarter to make the difference. Uche Nsonwu-Amadi led the winners with 26 points. Cholet climbed to 15-13 after grabbing a crucial win over Dijon 67-74 to hold the eighth and final playoffs position, which it can clinch with a win in one of its two remaining games (Cholet plays a rescheduled game against Chalon on May 12). The visitors led 37-59 after 30 minutes, then withstood a 30-15 charge by Dijon to pull out the win. Robert Dozier scored 17 points and Fabien Causeur added 14 with 6 assists and 3 steals for Cholet.
