German League, Regular Season, Game 34: April 28, 2012
Brose Baskets Bamberg finished a dominant German League regular season with a resounding 102-65 victory over BBC Beyreuth for a 30-4 record. The best-of-five quarterfinals will start on May 3 with the following matchups: Brose Baskets vs. Telekom Baskets Bonn; ratiopharm Ulm vs. NY Phantoms Braunschweig; Alba vs. s. Oliver Baskets and Artland Dragons vs. FC Bayern Munchen. Brose Baskets led Beyreuth 43-33 at halftime, then used a 34-21 third quarter on the way to an easy 102-65 win. PJ Tucker led the way with 25 points, including 4 for 4 from downtown, and 11 rebounds, while Julius Jenkins added 17 points. Brose connected on 13 of 26 from three-point territory. Second-ranked ratiopharm Ulm pummeled Oliver Baskets 91-65 as five players scored in double figure, led Isaiah Swann’s 18 points. Alba Berlin finished the regular season in third place with a 26-8 record, beating Braunschweig 79-64 behind a 43-30 second half as Yassin Idibhi amassed a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards while Heiko Schaffartzik added 16. Artland Dragons bested Walter Tigers Tubingen 74-85 to end in fourth place. The hosts led 46-39 at halftime, then the Dragons took off on a 14-surge in the third quarter to secure the lead. Bayern also came back to defeat Bremerhaven 86-73 after the guests led 38-43 at halftime. Jared Homan nailed 19 points, Chevon Troutman bagged 18 with 9 rebounds and Je'Kel Foster added 15 to finish with a 22-12 record, good for fifth place. Bonn closed the season with its third straight win, routing Fraport Skyliners 81-62. Chris Ensminger had 23 points and Tony Gaffmey 14 for the hosts, while Jermareo Davidson nailed 18 and Jimmy McKinney added 13 for Skyliners. In other games, TBB Trier edged BF Goettingen 85-83, EWE Baskets Oldenburg beat ENBW Ludwigsburg 84-77 and Phoenix Hagen downed LTI Giessen 46ers 85-72.
