The German League has one familiar finalist and another unexpected one after both Brose Baskets Bamberg and Ratiopharm Ulm registered 3-0 sweeps in their best-of-five semifinal series on Sunday. The two-time defending champions from Bamberg once again blew Artland Dragons off the floor with a 94-63 victory in Game 3, its second 30-point home win in the series. The champs were ahead 50-29 by halftime and never looked back after that. P.J. Tucker led five double-figure scorers for Bamberg with 19 points. Anton Gavel added 15 points, Tibor Pleiss and Predrag Suput 14 each, while Julius Jenkins scored 12. Only Nathan Peavy reached double figures for Artland, with 18 points, while the Bamberg defense held David Holston, the league's third-best scorer this season, to 3 points. Bamberg will be aiming for its third straight German League title and fifth overall when the finals start. Nothing like that could be said for its opponent, Ulm, which stopped visiting S. Oliver Baskets 88-80 on Sunday to qualify for the first finals in club history. Ulm rallied from a 60-62 deficit after three quarters to lead by as many as 11 points, 86-75, in the final minute. Steve Estercamp had 21 points to pace Ulm, which used only eight players and was without its leading scorer, Isaiah Swann. Tommy Mason-Griffin added 15 points, Per Gunthrer 13 and Keaton Nankivil 11, while John Bryant posted a double-double of 10 points, 13 rebounds for Ulm. S. Oliver got 19 points from John LIttle. Ulm had not won a playoff game in the German League this century before finishing second in the regular season and now sweeping to a 6-0 record in the playoffs.
