Yogev Ohayon - Maccabi Electra_37164The Israeli League super classic lived up to expectations on Sunday night as defending champion Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv fended off Hapoel Jerusalem 100-104 after overtime in the Israeli capital. In a game that was close throughout, Ramel Bradley was fouled attempting a three-pointer at the end of regulation and made the resulting 3 free throws to knot the score at 90-90 and force overtime. Bradley put the hosts ahead 94-91, but Yogev Ohayon took over for Maccabi and led his team on a 2-10 run that put the game away. Ohayon finished with 20 points and 8 assists, David Blu scored 17, Keith Langford 16 and Richard Hendrix 15 for the winners, who improved to 13-2. Yuval Naimy paced Jerusalem with 19 points and 10 assists, Bradley scored 17 and grabbed 8 rebounds and D.J. Strawberry netted 16 in defeat as Jerusalem slipped to 8-8. In other games, second placed Gilboa Galil improved to 11-5 by beating BC Habikaa 77-84 led by Romeo Travis’s 28 points and Rishon Lezion scored an important 84-79 victory over Eldan Ashkelon thanks to 23 points and 11 rebounds from Brandon Bowman.
