Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv cruised to another victory, Hapoel Jerusalem clinched home-court advantage in the quarterfinals and the first quarterfinals pairing was settled in an exciting week of Israeli League hoops. Maccabi downed Hapoel Unet Holon 80-70 in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score would indicate. The hosts led 27-7 after 10 minutes and coasted the rest of the way despite a frantic Holon comeback in the fourth quarter. Lior Eliyahu led the way with 19 points and 9 rebounds, Keith Langford scored 18 and Guy Pnini 15 for the defending champs, who improved to 21-2, while dropping Holon to 13-11. Bryant Dunston led Holon with 15 points. Jerusalem, which beat Holon last week, routed Eldan Ashkelon 63-83 to improve to 14-10 and secure a top four spot. The visitors led 35-39 at halftime and broke the game open with a big third quarter. Brian Randle tallied 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and DJ Strawberry scored 15 for the winners. Second-placed Galil/Gilboa topped Maccabi Rishon Lezion 74-67 behind 18 points from Romeo Travis and a Courtney Fells double-double. Rgardless of other results, Galil will face Ashdod in the quarterfinals.
