Italian League, Regular Season, Game 2: October 15-16, 2011

Turkish Airlines Euroleague clubs Montepaschi Siena and Bennet Cantu are the only clubs in the Italian League with two wins after two weeks of action. Defending champion Siena downed Umana Venezia 86-76 in its home opener as David Andersen and Nikos Zisis scored 16 points apiece. Anderson scored 4 in an 11-0 third quarter run that gave Montepaschi its first comfortable lead 52-38 and the hosts deflected Venezia’s advances the rest of the way. Bo McCalebb added 13 and Rimas Kaukenas 11 for the winners. Keydren Clark scored 23 in defeat. Cantu bested Banco di Sardegna Sassari 71-58 after pulling away with a 22-9 third quarter. Maarten Leunen scored 14 and Vladimir Micov posted 12 points and 11 rebounds for Cantu. Gianluca Basile added 12 off the bench in 16 minutes. Drake Diener scored 22 for Sassari. Meanwhile Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro stunned EA7-Emporio Armani Milano 69-66. The hosts led by 13 entering the fourth quarter and despite a late run, Milano never seriously threatened. Richard Hickman scored 20 and Daniel Hackett 17 for Pesaro. Malik Hairston led Armani with 13. Sani Becirovic scored a late game-winner as Benetton Treviso edged Banca Tercas Teramo 77-75 for its first win. Alessandro Gentile led the way with 18 points, Jeff Adrien posted 14 points and 10 rebounds and Becirovic torched the nets for 13 points in 10 minutes. Dee Brown led Teramo with 17. In other games, Sidigas Avellino, Cimberio Varese, Vanoli-Braga Cremona and Virtus Roma all picked up their first wins.
