Montepaschi Siena added to its lead in the Italian League by taking out Fabi Shoes Montegranaro 96-84, while second place clubs EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Canadian Solar Bologna both lost. Siena lifted its record to 12-4 behind a game-leading 24 points by David Andersen, while Bootsy Thornton tallied 22, and Bo McCalebb added 17 and 6 assists. Montegranaro got 14 points each from Tariq Kirksay and Dejan Ivanov. Angelico Biella handed Milan its second consecutive loss, 84-76, overcoming a 33-17 first-quarter deficit as the visitors scored only 20 points in the middle two quarters. Angelico Biella had six scorers in double figures, paced by Matteo Soragna’s17 points and Jacob Pullen’s 15. Antonis Fotsis had 23 points and Omar Cook 11 assists in a losing effort. Bennet Cantu used a 31-17 third quarter to pull away from Bologna and secure a 78-72 victory, led by Maarten Leunen’s 17 points, including 3 of 5 from downtown, and Giorgi Shermadini, who scored 14. Bologna got 15 points each from Angelo Gigli and Chris Douglas-Roberts. Benetton Treviso won its second in a row, downing Vanoli Braga Cremona 68-62, as Jeff Viggiano and Andrea De Nicolao netted 14 points apiece. David Lightly paced the losers with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Scavolini Siviglia Pesaro held on to beat Novipiù Casale Monferrato 79-72, as Richard Hickman led the way with 22 points. With the win, Pesaro joined a four-way tie for second at 10-6 with Milan, Bologna and Cantu. Sidigas Avellino trounced Umana Venezia 86-63, as Jurica Golemac scored 22 points and Marques Green racked up 13 assists. Both teams are now tied for third with 9-7 records. In other games Banco de Sardegna Sassari coasted to a 74-56 victory over Otto Caserta, and Banco Tercas Teramo outdueled Cimberio Varese 81-75.
