Zalgiris remained unbeaten in the Lithuanian League on Saturday by beating arch rival Lietuvos Rytas 72-82 on the road. Paulius Jankunas scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the defending champs, who improved to 9-0 this season. Rytas dropped to 11-2. The hosts started strong with the game’s first 5 points and led throughout the first quarter and for most of the second, which finished 43-38. Tyrese Rice made it 50-42 midway through the third quarter, but Sonny Weems scored half the points in a 0-8 Zalgiris run to tie the score and DeJuan Colllins gave the visitors a 56-57 edge after three quarters. Back-to-back triples by Jankunas and Dainius Salenga extended Zalgiris’s lead to 9 early in the fourth quarter and the home team never recovered. Weems finished with 15 points and Tomas Delininkaitis 10 for the victors. Rice and Renaldas Seibutis paced Rytas with 17 points apiece and Aleksandar Rasic added 15. Elsewhere Rudupis edged Siauliai 89-88 on Arminas Urbutis's free throws with 2 seconds left to complete a 14-point fourth-quarter comeback. Arturas Milaknis led Rudupis with 17 points, while Valdas Vasylius netted 20 in defeat.
