Polish League, Regular Season, Game 11: November 12-13, 2011

Trefl Sopot handed PGE Turow Zgorzelec its first loss of the Polish League season on Saturday, going to overtime to win 86-83. Despite the loss, Turow remains atop the standings with a 9-1 record, but Anwil Wloclawek moved within two wins of the leaders by routing AZS Koszalin 99-70 and Sopot is in third place and not far off the pace at 6-3. In a game that was close throughout, Turow held slim leads in the closing minutes and was up 64-67 after David Jackson free throws with 16 seconds to go. However Ronald Moore and Konrad Wysocki combined to go 3 for 6 from the line over the last 12 seconds and Lukasz Wisniewski took advantage with a clutch triple to tie the game at 70-70 and force an extra session. Wisniewski then drilled a pair of triples to start the overtime period and Sopot held on the rest of the way. Lukasz Koszarek paced Sopot with 21 points and 9 rebounds, Adam Waczynski also scored 21 and Wisniewski netted 19 for the winners. Daniel Kickert led Turow with 17 points and David Jackson and Aaron Cel scored 13 each in defeat. The star of Anwil’s win was Seid Hajric with 18 points off the bench. The other big winner over the weekend was Siarka Jezioro Tarnobrzeg, which dominated LKS Lodz 70-94 thanks to LaMarshall Corbett’s 24-point effort.
