Polish League playoffs, Quarterfinals Game 1: April 21-23, 2012
The opening games of the Polish League playoffs delivered plenty of excitement including one upset. Defending champion Asseco Prokom dominated the third quarter en route to an 84-73 victory over AZS Koszalin in Game 1. The score was tied 41-41 at halftime, but Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz and Lukasz Seweryn opened the third quarter with back-to-back triples to ignite a 12-0 run and Koszalin never caught up. Frasunkiewicz paced Prokom with 17 points, Donatas Motiejunas added 15 points and 7 rebounds and Jerel Blassingame tallied 10 points and 9 assists. Piotr Pamula led Koszalin with 20 points. The only road winner in the series openers was Slask Wroclaw, which upset Trefl Sopot 78-86. Robert Skibniewski shined with 20 points and 8 assists and Aleksandar Mladenovic added 18 for Wroclaw, which used a big second quarter for a 36-49 halftime lead and held on the rest of the way. Anwil Wloclawek held on for a 76-72 win over PGE Turow in a back-and-forth game. Turow rallied from 14 down in the fourth quarter to make it close late, but never got within a single possession. Corsley Edwards led Anwil with 21 points. And Zastal Zielona beat Energa Czarni 97-92 after overtime. Stanley Burrell missed a chance to win it for Czarni in the final seconds of regulation and Uros Mirkovic scored 8 in a 9-2 start to the extra session as Zielona took charge for good. Walter Hodge paced the winners with 31 points and 9 assists.
