Russian League, Regular Season, Game 10: January 28, 2012
CSKA Moscow crushed Lokomotiv Kuban on the road 58-91 to maintain first place in the Russian League with an 8-1 record, while Khimki held on to the second spot by taking out Enisey 90-69 for a 6-2 mark. CSKA was led by Alexey Shved, who downed 15 points, while Viktor Khryapa and Sasha Kaun added 12 apiece and Ramunas Sislauskas chipped in 9. KC Rivers led Lokomotiv with 16 points. The visitors took a narrow 43-45 lead into halftime, but came out with a 19-0 run to open the third. Lokomotiv to score only 15 points in the second half. Khimki beat Enisey 90-69, overcoming a 13-25 first-quarter deficit to lead 44-42 at halftime, then dominating the second half. Vitaly Fridzon and Kresmir Loncar tallied 21 points apiece, while Sergey Monya added 13 for the winners. Sergey Toporov bagged 16 for the losers. Spartak Primorye pulled off a double-overtime victory on the road over Spartak St. Petersburg 96-104. Primorye’s Evgeny Baburin forced the game to overtime with three free throws at 76-76, then Patrick Beverley missed a potential game-winner as the first session ended 86-86. A 7-0 run by the visitors in the second extra session gave them a 94-101 margin, enough to win the game. Cuthbert Victor led the winners with 22 points, Konstantin Nesterov drained 20 and Torey Thomas 19. Spartak St. Petersburg got 38-point performance from Beverley, setting the season scoring record, along with 14 from Yotam Halperin. Primorye is now tied for third place with Lokomotiv with 5-4 records. Triumph Lyubertsy won its fifth in a row, overtaking Krasnye Krylya 69-75 on the road as Davon Jefferson netted 25 points and Dmitri Kulagin 17 to lead the winners. Dragan Labovic posted 25 points and Brion Rush added 20 for the losers. Unics routed Nizhniy Novgorod 84-66 as Henry Domercant scored 17 points, Vladimir Veremeenko tallied 14 and Lynn Greer added 13. The hosts led 36-33 at halftime, then added to the margin in the second half.
