Union Olimpija is 2012 Slovenian Cup champion (Photo KZS)Union Olimpija Ljubljana is the Slovenian Pokal Spar Cup winner for the fifth year in a row after seeing off rival Krka Novo Mesto 68-63 in Sunday’s final in Brezice. Goran Jeretin scored 13 points and dished 4 assists and Deon Thompson tallied 11 points and 9 rebounds to lead the winners. Krka led 50-53 after Uros Lucic free throws with six-and-a-half minutes remaining, but Jeretin scored the go-ahead three as part of a 10-0 burst that put Olimpija firmly in control at 62-54 with less than three minutes remaining. An Edo Muric three-pointer followed by a Zoran Dragic score gave Krka some hope at 65-61 with 25 seconds to go, however Jaka Blazic made 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch to seal the win for Olimpija. Sasu Salin added 12 points for Olimpija, which overcame 16 turnovers to record the win. Dragic paced Krka with 19 points and Smiljan Pavic added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in defeat.
