Slovenian League semifinals, Game 2: May 10, 2012
For the third year in a row, Union Olimpija and Krka will face off in the finals of the Slovenian League, beginning May 17. Olimpija needed overtime to beat Helios 78-81 to win their semifinals series 2-0. Olimpija offset lower two-point production with points from downtown to help get the win, knocking down 12 of 33 compared with 4 of 17 for Helios. Sasu Salin was the team’s prime marksman from deep, hitting 7 of 10 and scoring a game-high 23 points. Previously, Krka downed Zlatorog 66-69 to win their semifinals duel 2-0. The teams put up the same points in each quarter until the fourth, when Krka outscored the hosts 19-22 to grab the win. Jure Balazic paced the winners with 19 points, while Zoran Dragic and Smiljan Pavic added 12 apiece. As regular season champ, Krka will have home court advantage in the best-of-five finals series. Krka beat Olimpija in the two previous league finals.
