Turkish League, Regular Season, Game 1: October 15-16, 2011

The three Turkish Airlines Euroleague clubs hailing from Istanbul started their domestic season with blowout wins on the opening night of Turkish League action Saturday. Anadolu Efes, Fenerbahce Ulker and Galatasaray all won by a minimum of 25 points. Efes spanked Erdemir 53-89 as Sasha Vujacic pumped in 18 points and Esteban Batista dominated with 17 points and 5 rebounds in 15 minutes. Efes outscored Erdemir 10-25 in the second quarter to take an 18-point halftime lead and continued to pull away in the second half. Ermal Kuqo and Ersan Ilyasova added 10 points apiece for Efes. Antywane Robinson paced Erdemir with 14. Galatasaray torched Olin Edirne 71-98 behind Darius Songaila’s 19-points effort. After taking a double-digit lead in the opening quarter, Galatasaray led 37-51 by halftime and cruised the rest of the way. Jaka Lakovic added 13 points, Preston Shumpert netted 12, Zaza Pachuliia 11 and Jamon Lucas had 10 for the winners. Chris Wright scored 20 for Olin. FB Ulker routed Trabzonspor 88-63 behind a well-balanced scoring attack that featured five scorers in double figures. The hosts led 44-34 at halftime and put the game out of reach with a 24-5 third quarter. Bojan Bogdanovic led the hosts with 13 points, Emir Preldzic, Omer Onan and Roko Ukic scored 12 each and James Gist tallied 11 points and 8 rebounds for the defending champs. In Saturday’s other game, Tofas topped Mersin 61-72.
