Turkish League, Regular Season, Game 2: October 22-23, 2011
All three Turkish Airlines Euroleague teams in the Turkish League pulled out wins in the second game of the season, joining three other teams at the top of the standings with two victories apiece. Fenerbahce Ulker won a tough game on the road against Antalya Bsb. Basketball as Oguz Savas scored 15 points in a well-balanced attack that featured five players in double figures. Galatasaray Medical Park took out Eurocup competitor Banvit 84-73 by displaying greater scoring efficiency when the game counted most. The winners were led by Josh Shipp’s 22 points. Andalou Efes had an easier time of it, rolling past Allaga Petkim 80-65, as Ersan Ilyasova and Stanko Barac had 16 points apiece and Tarance Kinsey hit 14. Besiktas Milangaz fought past Pinar Karsiyaka 93-100 behind Deron Willliams's 24 points and Marcelus Kemp’s 23. Also notching a second win was Tofas, which edged out Erdemir, 74-70. The home squad got 24 points from Austin Nichols and another 19 from Tomislav Ruzic. Turk Telecom routed Bandirma 67-95 to get its second win behind three players with 16 points each: Michael Wright, Darius Washington, Jr. and Simas Jasaltis. Olin Edirne got its first win of the season by beating Hacettepe University 74-80 as four players scored in double figures led by Vladimir Stimac’s game-leading 23 points. Mersin Bsb. also got in the win column by beating Trabzonspor, 66-78. James Mays led all scorers with 21 points.
Andalou Efes rolled past Allaga Petkim 80-65 as Ersan Ilyasova and Stanko Barac had 16 points apiece and Tarance Kinsey hit 14. Barac added 8 rebounds and Ilyasova and Kinsey each grabbed 6 to help Efes outrebound Aliaga 38-31. Fenerbahce Ulker played big in the final quarter to earn a 77-81 road win. Oguz Savas led the defending champs with 15 points, James Gist added 13 and Emir Preldzic scored 12 and handed out 4 assists. Antalya was paced by Stevan Jelovac, who led all scorers with 19 points. Galatasaray Medical Park downed Banvit 84-73, relying on more overall team play and a higher shooting percentage from the field. Josh Shipp’s marksmanship helped, as he hit 8 of 9 shots- I including 2 of 3 from downtown. Tutku Acik orchestrated the attack with 8 points and 7 assists. Banvit received 22 points from Charles Davis and 13 from Baris Ermis.
