One victory now separates the top five teams in the Turkish League after both Anadolu Efes and Galatasaray Medical Park lost over the weekend. Besiktas topped Efes 83-76, though head coach Ufuk Sarica's side remains in first place with a 10-2 record. Defending champ Fenerbahce Ulker edged Galatasaray 80-79, which tied those teams along with Banvit and Besiktas for second place with 9-3 records. Besiktas’s big men made the difference against Efes as Zoran Erceg posted 28 points and 9 rebounds and Pops Mensah-Bonsu added 15. The game was close through three quarters, after which the hosts led 57-56, but newcomer Carlos Arroyo helps run the show and Besiktas pulled away late for the win. Kerem Tunceri led Efes with 17 points and 5 assists and Dusko Savanovic and Stanko Barac added 14 points each. FB Ulker rallied late to top Galatasaray. Luksa Andric had the visitors ahead 62-70 in the fourth quarter, but Curtis Jerrells and Marko Tomas both hit from downtown as the hosts came back to tie the score at 76-76. Then Engin Atsur and Jerrells both scored as Fener pulled ahead and despite a three-pointer from Jaka Lakovic, the home team held on to win. Atsur finished with 16 points and James Gist and Oguz Savas scored 14 each and grabbed 8 and 9 rebounds, respectively. Lakovic and Andric paced Galatasaray with 12 points each. Banvit registered a 70-83 victory Mersin Bsb as Kenan Bajramovic poured in 21 points and Lance Williams added 13. The damage was done in the middle two quarters when Banvit dominated 25-48.
