Ukrainian League, Regular Season, Game 2: October 2-4, 2012
Eurocup teams Azovmash Mariupol and BC Donetsk had different outcomes of their tricky tests during this week's busy action in the Ukrainian championship. Doron Perkins had 12 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds, while Ramel Curry and Darius Songaila each scored 14 points, but it was not enough for defending champion Donetsk to avoid a shocking home loss to Khimik Yuzny 73-81. Suad Sehovic led Yuzny with 19 points as the visitors took control of the game in the second quarter, grabbing 32-39 advantage. Donetsk stayed close rest of the way, but never managed to take over. Curry and Perkins cut the deficit to 63-68 with four minutes to go, but Yuzny managed to hold on. Donetsk bounced back from this loss with a 91-75 victory against Nikolaev. Vojdan Stojanovski led the way with 20 points and Ivan Radenovic scored 16. Azovmash also downed Nikolaev, 83-72, led by the frontcourt duo of Miroslav Raduljica with 21 points and Tadija Dragicevic with 17. Azovmash was then put to test at Cherkasy and came away with improbable 73-75 win thanks to a last second shot by Lynn Greer. Kyryl Natyazhko scored 18 points while leading Azovmash in overcoming a 16-point third-quarter deficit, while hero Greer finished with 16 points.
