Masmacom second edition announced
Euroleague Basketball launches the second edition of Masters in Sports Marketing
and Communication. Post-graduate training through our Master is a central area
of activity at the Euroleague Basketball Institute, an educational platform for
all those who are interested in improving or developing their skills within the
sporting world, and will offer students from across the globe the opportunity
to have access to the leading specialists in the sector. We have developed post-graduate
research and planning initiatives, and labour constantly to continue improvements
in the curriculum, and to broaden our activities and improve business practices.
The course has been and will remain very much a course covering sports in general and not just basketball, and was created to train all-round managers who could cope with the increasingly complex world of sport: principles of marketing and communication, sports marketing , marketing on the web and branding, sports integrated communication, events marketing.
We strongly believe in the potential of teaching through technologies. It is important to explore the possibilities that new medias and methods offer to enhance learning and teaching. We develop technologically-rich learning environments in line with leading academic research. We shape them to be effective and comfortable for both professors and students.
The Programme commences on February 28th, 2008 at La Ghirada, Treviso
and ends on July 26th, 2008 during a special ceremony in Venice; the
course is structured from an interdisciplinary point of view and is divided into
phases: classroom, on-line course, sport life immersion, project work, exam and
graduation day. The participants will have the opportunity to live a real sport
marketing and communication event during the Euroleague Basketball Final Four
2008.
The welcome would not be complete without a word about our four partner universities: Cá Foscari, University of Venice; University of Strathclyde, Glasgow; Athens University of Economics and Business; and University College Dublin. Their expertise makes for a truly special course, one that combines high level academic teaching with practical examples for the real world.
The admission application is available for all interested students, we invite you to use our on-line application at www.masmacom.eu. At the end of the first edition, 23 places have already been reserved. During the first edition 40 students came from Europe and Asia.

Masmacom first edition closes
The Master of Marketing and Communication organized by Euroleague Basketball and Ca'Foscari closes its first edition in Venice
On Saturday, July 21, the first edition of the Master of Marketing and Communication organized by Euroleague Basketball with the collaboration of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice closed in the beautiful Aula Magna of this university.
In the closing acts, presided by the Vice-Chancellor of the Ca' Foscari University Doctor Elite Pittarello, Euroleague Basketball CEO Jordi Bertomeu, Abertis Foundation Manager Sagrario Huelin and the director of the course Tiziano Vescovi, the 38 students who attended received their diploma.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, in words for the students, wanted to highlight the big chance of sharing experiences that a course of this kind offers its students. For Doctor Pittarello "the possibility of learning from different people and doing so with open mentality is an indelible experience that you will remember in the future."
Jordi Bertomeu thanked Ca' Foscari and the Abertis Foundation for their support of the project and wished the students that the experience and knowledge gathered in this course will be of use in the professional world. For the Euroleague CEO "learning is a matter of attitude and all of you have shown to have it and make use of it."
The Manager of the Abertis Foundation, Sagrario Huelin, had words of gratitude for the university and Euroleague Basketball, and congratulated the students and wished them luck.
The director of the course, Professor Tiziano Vescovi, wanted to highlight the experience as rich as "it has been incredible to share all these months of studies with pupils from 15 different countries and teachers from five. The teaching team has done a great job in front of a totally new challenge but it was the students who, with their attitude, made possible that the course had a high academic level."
Regise Reiser and Marko Pesic spoke on behalf of the students. Reiser highlighted the great academic and personal experience and announced the creation of the Association of former Students of masmacom, which will gather once a year and will keep all the students in touch to keep sharing experiences. Marko Pesic thanked Ca' Foscari and Euroleague Basketball the initiative since "in my case it has meant a big chance for learning and has offered me very interesting knowledge for my professional future after my years as a player."
A few days prior to the Saturday acts, La Ghirada in Treviso hosted the presentation of the final projects of the students. The project was a presentation of a Marketing or Communication plan which applied all the theory learned throughout the course. The results confirmed the great quality and diversity of all works offered by the students.
