Baskonia paid tribute to 22-year sponsor Tau

 On Tuesday evening the Caja Laboral Saski Baskonia basketball club paid tribute to the club’s former sponsor, Taulell, in a celebration at the team’s final preseason game against Lagun Aro GBC. Taulell, through its headline product TAU Ceramica, was Baskonia’s chief sponsor for 22 seasons, during which the club reached impressive heights. The Taulell/Baskonia partnership lasted over 1,000 domestic games and some 196 Euroleague contests and bred four consecutive trips to the Euroleague Final Four as well as two Spanish League crowns, six Copa del Rey titles, four Supercup wins and the 1996 Saporta Cup. At Tuesday’s home game at the Fernando Buesa Arena, Taulell chairman Cristobal Badenes received a special gold and diamond encrusted pin with the Baskonia logo from club president Josean Querejeta. Badenes was also be honored by the presence of Euroleague Secretary General Judit Mari, Alava province deputy general Xabier Agirre; Mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz Patxi Lazcoz; senior advisor to Spain’s Minister of Culture and Sport, Blanca Urgell; and Caja Laboral president Txomin García.
