Unicaja and its fans collaborate with Haiti
|
The solidarity of Unicaja and its fans was evident when they collaborated to help Haiti during last night's Euroleague game at Martin Carpena Arena through actions meant to add a little assistance for the country devastated by a recent earthquake. From the ticket proceeds of the game against Asseco Prokom, a total of €2,741 will be donated to the campaign Euroleague for Life, which will send the contribution to Haiti through UNICEF.
To that money, the collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross should also be added. A pack of tickets for the game was donated to this organization so that they could sell them, and some volunteers also took donations in the arena throughout the game. That added up to €1,000 more that the Red Cross will send to Haiti to help their inhabitants.
Outside of the game, the collaboration with the Red Cross will continue, too, as Unicaja players donated jerseys and sports material that will be drawn in a total 18 local assemblies. To participate in the draw, numbers will be sold and those proceeds will also be added to the money from the game. Among the sports material donated by players there are personal shoes by Berni Rodriguez and Joe Gomis, plus Berni's Spanish national team jersey.
Starting next Monday, in all Red Cross sites throughout the province of Malaga, the tickets will be on sale for the drawing, which will take place next February 15.
