Euroleague.net experiences record growth
|
In the 10th anniversary of its debut, more fans made more visits than ever before to the official webpage of Euroleague Basketball during the 2009-10 season, setting single-day, full month and full season records for traffic on the site. The one-year growth in use of Euroleague.net last season was among the highest in the site's history, with almost 28.3% more visits recorded than the previous one. Those visitors viewed 21.6% more pages than their predecessors in any previous season while at the same time matching the average time spent on Euroleague.net during each visit. What's more, the percentage of visitors considered to be first-time users of Euroleague.net jumped by 27% during the 2009-10 season.
"It is gratifying to see that even in our 10th season, such solid increases in traffic are possible as more people discover the Euroleague for themselves and, obviously, like what they see," Euroleague Basketball web director Frank Lawlor said.
Seven of the 10 countries that topped the list of visits on Euroleague.net last season experienced double-digit jumps in percentage terms. Of those seven, France, Poland and Greece had increases between 29% and 32%. Lithuanians arrived at a heightened rate of 64.7% more than last season. And from Serbia, the visits to Euroleague.net grew by more than double, an incredible 122%! Spain, the country where the most Euroleague.net traffic comes from, increased its number of visits by 19%.
In terms of new visitors, the leading countries were non-European: the United States showed an increase of 53% in visits to Euroleague.net, while Taiwan posted a 39.7% increase!
"To have more people from more places follow the competition on our official website each season offers us a welcome challenge to keep and entertain them," Lawlor said. "We plan to do exactly that by offering several new features next season."
