Euroleague Final Four 2011 will not be held in Turin
Euroleague BasketballBARCELONA, July 12, 2010 - Euroleague Basketball and the region of Piemonte, Italy, have agreed to postpone the holding of the 2011 Euroleague Final Four in the city of Turin. The Euroleague final would have been held as part of the celebrations to comemorate 150 years of Italian unity. Euroleague understands that the new government of the Piemonte region, recently elected, requires more time to be able to organize a project such as hosting the Final Four. Euroleague waited until the last general assembly meeting, as a maximum deadline, to ensure that this project would be able to come through. It has therefore decided to contact cities that were in negotiations with Euroleague for future finals to find the best alternative for the 2010-11 season. The Euroleague and officials from Turin have agreed that they will revisit the idea of a Euroleague Final Four in Turin in the future. Euroleague Basketball hopes to announce a new site for the 2011 Euroleague Final Four shortly.
